In Memory of Charles Henri Ford

Charles in Paris.
Photographed by Henri Cartier-Bresson, 1935

Today, February 10th, 2012, is 104th years from the day Charles Henri Ford was born. Not a day passes by that I do not think of him and appreciate him. I live surrounded by all the many things he made and wrote. Happy birthday Charles. The vitality of life continues, and you’ll never be forgotten.

  2. I only knew Ruth, the sister of Charles Henry (Henri) Ford, but always understood that her brother was such a amazing artist and wonderful person. My late aunt, Ann May Eggleston, (mother of the photographer William Eggleston), lived in New York with Mrs. Ford and Charles Henry and Ruth in the 1930's Her stories were always so exciting about that time. Ann went to Columbia, and my grandmother was so afraid that the Fords were much too "progressive." Much later when I moved to NYC, Ruth was a wonderful friend and I do miss her. Thank you, Indra, for coming to visit us in Mississippi when you and your beautiful family came to scatter the ashes of Ruth and CH in Columbus. XXMaude Schuyler Clay
